Abstract

Green beans crop is one of the most important vegetables in Egypt due to its export importance and nutritional value, as Egypt ranks fifth among the most important countries exported beans worldwide, the research problem was the quantities of exported green beans fluctuated during the study period, and this in turn led to instability in the internal and external markets. Therefore, the main objective of the research is to development potentials of Production and export of Egyptian green beans.
Research results: -
1-  All the economic variables of the green beans crop in Egypt took significant increase during the period 2000-2019.
2-    The exports quantities and value, prices were not stable, during the study period.
3-    By studying the geographical distribution of Egyptian exports of green beans, it became clear that United Kingdom occupies the first place, while Belgium ranked second, followed by Germany Italy, France, the Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates.
4-    It was found that the competitive markets for the Egyptian market are Morocco, France, Mexico, Netherlands, and America.
5-    By reviewing the most important economic indicators of the competitiveness of green beans, it was revealed that Egypt has an apparent and specialized comparative advantage for green beans exports, also found that Egypt has a competitive price advantage in the export of green beans compared to America, Morocco, and the Netherlands.
6-    By studying the market share, it was found that about 48.23% of the United Arab Emirates' imports of green beans obtained it from Egypt, then United Kingdom, German, Belgium, France, Netherlands, and Italian market.
7-  The market penetration rate of the most important importing countries of green beans has decreased, indicating the weak possibility of Egyptian green beans penetrating these markets.
8-  To identify the most important factors affecting on demand for green beans, two models were used, the first of which is concerned with studying the total demand for green beans, while the second model is concerned with studying the most important factors affecting the demand of Egyptian green beans. the first model showed that The demand for green beans was inelastic in all importer markets, while according to the results of second model it was found that the demand for Egyptian green beans is inelastic in England, Belgium, Germany, and Netherlands. Of course, the low elasticity is an advantage for Egyptian green beans.
Research is recommended as follows:
1-   Working to reduce the export price of Egyptian green beans compared to the prices of competing countries to develop exports of Egyptian green beans.
2-   The importance of designing and implementing productive, price and export policies to ensure the adjustment of the market penetration rate index for the most important importing countries of Egyptian green beans.
3-   Finding an export agency and highly efficient export institutions to study the foreign markets and their needs for the Egyptian green beans crop in terms of quantity, quality and export time, by establishing an integrated database on foreign markets for green beans, in addition, to studying the countries where competing to Egypt.
4-   Pay attention to technical specifications to be in line with the standard specifications for the expansion of Egyptian beans exports, in addition to diversity of the contents of the export basket, because this gives it the characteristic of stability.
