Abstract

The current research mainly aimed to identify the knowledge and practices of farmers in improving olive oil productivity in the village of Imatin (Imatin Cooperative Association for Olive Pressing) in Palestine. The data for this research were collected using the questionnaire method by personal interview for a simple random sample of members of the Imatin Association, estimated at (50) farmers. A simple random sample of olive farmers who are non-members of the association was selected, estimated at (50) farmers. Frequencies and percentages were used. The most important results were summarized as follows: There are significant differences between members and non-members of the association with regard to knowledge and practices about the studied technical operations related to olive oil production for the farmers surveyed at a significance level of 0.01, and that the general average of knowledge of farmers who are members of the association reached (97.3%), and that the general average of knowledge of farmers who are non-members of the association, who are surveyed, reached (71.4%), and that the general average of implementation of farmers surveyed who are members of the association reached (82.6%), and the general average of implementation of farmers who are non-members of the association who were surveyed was (68%). The research recommends working on increasing coordination and cooperation between extension cadres, farmers, research centers or researchers to identify farmers’ problems and come up with appropriate solutions for them
