The Social and Psychological Effects of Electronic Blackmail against Women and Methods of Confronting Them “A Study in The Countryside of Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate”

Abstract

The research mainly aimed to determine the social and psychological effects of electronic blackmail against women and methods of confronting them.  The research was conducted on a sample of 365 rural families. and accordingly this number was distributed according to the percentage of representation of each village in the overall research. The number of female respondents in the village of Kafr al-Hamrawi was 161 female respondents. 97 female respondents in the village of Kafr Baqloula. and 107 female respondents in the village of Hammad. and rural women were selected from the families in each village. By a simple random method. provided that they have the ability to use the Internet. The data was collected using a questionnaire form. during the months of January and February 2024 AD. and appropriate statistical methods were used to present the results.
The most important results were:
1- At the forefront of the reasons for the spread of electronic blackmail is “modern means of communication” with an arithmetic average of (2.29) degrees. This may be due to the openness that occurred through these means and the disclosure of personal information to everyone. such as displaying personal photos and sharing them with friends. which gives the opportunity for weak souls to Exploiting women and trying to blackmail them in order to achieve their own bad goals.
2- In the forefront of the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social field: unwillingness to speak. with an average score of 2.91. family disintegration. loss of trust in society. and the individual’s lack of security for himself and his family. with an average score of 2.90 for each.
3- At the forefront of the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the psychological field are: suffering from anxiety and fear with an average score of 2.93. and suffering from depression and constant sadness. feeling disgraced and disgraced. with an average score of 2.92 for each.
4- At the forefront of methods for confronting the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological field: socialization on Islamic values ​​and morals. with a rate of 71.2% and an arithmetic average of 2.56. and not accepting friend requests from strangers. with an arithmetic average of (2.50). And delete mobile phone data before selling it. with an arithmetic average of (2.49).
5- Cultural openness and knowledge of the reasons for the spread of electronic blackmail and the number of hours of use of the information network at one time contribute a unique moral contribution to explaining the variation in the degree of the impact of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological field. It also contributes to explaining the variation in the degree of the respondents’ agreement on methods of confronting the effects of blackmail. Electronic mail is against women in the social and psychological sphere and in a positive direction.
6- The number of individuals in the living unit makes a unique significant contribution to explaining the variation in the degree of the impact of electronic blackmail against women in the social sphere. It also contributes to explaining the discrepancy in the degree of the respondents’ agreement on methods of confronting the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological sphere and in the negative direction.
7- Geographical openness makes a unique moral contribution to explaining the variation in the degree of the impact of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological sphere. and in a positive direction.
8- The number of years of education of the female subject makes a unique significant contribution to explaining the discrepancy in the degree of the impact of electronic blackmail against women in the psychological field. It also contributes to explaining the discrepancy in the degree of female respondents’ agreement on methods of confronting the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological sphere. and in a positive direction.
9- The current age of the subject makes a unique significant contribution to explaining the discrepancy in the degree of the impact of electronic blackmail against women in the psychological field. It also contributes to explaining the discrepancy in the degree of female respondents’ agreement on methods of confronting the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological sphere and in the negative direction.
The research concluded with a number of recommendations. including: the need for rural women to be exposed to various media so that they can learn about the conditions of other societies and how to benefit from their capabilities in identifying the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological fields and how to confront them. It also recommends the need to intensify targeted media programs related to women. To raise the level of awareness of the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the social and psychological field and how to confront them. in addition to increasing interest in education because of its importance in increasing female respondents’ awareness of the effects of electronic blackmail against women in the psychological field and how to confront them.
