Abstract

The cotton crop is considered one of the most important strategic crops in Egypt. It is also considered a strong and fundamental pillar in the Egyptian national economy in general and in the agricultural economy in particular. Egyptian cotton is superior to international cottons in terms of staple length and spinning qualities. Many industries are based on cotton that are estimated at billions of pounds and can accommodate A large number of workers, and the problem of the study is the reluctance of many farmers to grow it and tend to grow competing crops such as rice and maize, as the cotton crop has recently faced many challenges and obstacles that prevent the expansion of its cultivated area, which leads to a decrease in production. The study aims to identify the problems and obstacles to the production of the Egyptian cotton crop and proposals for promoting the cultivation and production of this cotton crop, in addition to identifying the factors affecting the area cultivated with the cotton crop in Egypt. The study relied on two types of data: the primary is secondary data published during the period (2000-2021) and non- The publication that could be obtained from public agricultural agencies and institutions on Egyptian cotton, and the second is the primary data that was obtained through a questionnaire form collected from Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
