Farmers Knowledge of The Negative Effects of Climate Change on Agricultural Production and Their Sources of Information About It in some Villages at Al-Buhera Governorate

Abstract

This research aimed mainly to identify the Farmers Knowledge level  of the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production and their sources of information about it in some Villages in Al-Buhera governorate. The study was carried out for achieving following: 1-To identify objectives some characteristics of the respondents. 2- To identify the farmers knowledge level of the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production. 3-To identify the farmers sources of information about the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production. 4- Study the correlations between the degree of farmers knowledge of the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production and some of the independent variables. 5- Study the correlations between the degree of the farmers sources of information about the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production and their benefit of it and some of the independent variables. The data was obtained to achieve the objective of the research through a questionnaire through the personal interview with a 150 Farmers. Data were analyzed statistically by using percentages, means, standard deviation, Intermediate class, and person correlation, Chi-square, by using (SPSS) program. The main results were as follows: 1- 59.3% from respondents are on the low and medium knowledge level  of the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production.  2- Nearly three quarters of the respondents 74.7% fall into the low and middle in the degree of exposed to information sources about the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production. 3- There are a positive correlation between the degree of  farmers  knowledge of the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production and the following variables: education level, social status, degree of realness for renewal, communicative activity, knowledge of the causes of climate changes, knowledge of general appearances of climate changes, the degree of exposure to information sources and benefit from it. 4- There are a positive correlation between the degree of exposure to information sources and benefit from it and the following variables: social status, regenerative, communicative activity, knowledge of the causes of climate changes, knowledge of general appearances of climate changes, degree of farmers knowledge of the negative effects of climate change on Agricultural production.
