The Role of Agricultural Extension in Raising Awareness of Environmental Protection Laws in Dakahlia Governorate

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the agricultural extension role in raising awareness of environmental protection laws, it was conducted in two villages in Dakahlia Governorate on a simple random sample of farmers who have both agricultural and animal possessions consisting of 150 farmers during the period from September to December 2021, using a questionnaire Personal. Frequencies, percentages, arithmetic mean, and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used for statistical analysis. The most important results were summarized as follows:
- 87.3% of the farmers had heard of the environmental protection laws. The television was one of the most reliable sources to know those laws 77.3%.
- Behavioral level of the farmers with the environmental laws in the five studied areas reached (38.9) with subjective estimators, 35.3 with objective estimators, and the extension need was 64.6.
-The general average of the level extension system raising awareness of environmental protection laws for the farmers surveyed in the five fields studied was 64.9 and the level of follow-up was  60.6.
- The general average rate of agricultural extension devices' use of educational extension methods was 57.7, and the utilization rate was 58.8.
- The general average of the level of existence of problems of applying environmental laws was 72,9, and the level of future investigation of the application of environmental laws was 76,2.
- There is a significant relationship between the role of agricultural extension with environmental laws and the subjective, objectived behavioral levels in the pesticide pollution, and the plant production field 0,01.
