Abstract

The broad bean is one of the most important leguminous crops of high nutritional importance for a large number of the population. However, a decrease was observed in the cultivated area, about 334 thousand acres in 2001 to about 89,000 acres in 2020, and a decrease in acre productivity of about 1.52 tons per acre in 2008 to about 1.40 tons per acre in 2020, which led to a decrease in total production per acre by about 437.21 thousand tons per acre in 2001 to about 124.59 tons per acre in 2020, Which in turn an increase in the food gap, by about 853.41 in 2020, and a decrease in the self-sufficiency ratio to about 12.74% in 2020, The most important factors affecting the feddan productivity in the study sample of the broad bean crop in Fayoum governorate are the amount of municipal fertilizer, automated work, the amount of irrigation water and potassium fertilizer, respectively, and that the total flexibility has reached about 2.239, which reflects the case of increasing return on capacity and that by increasing the amounts used Of these productive elements by 1% leads to an increase in production by 2.239, that is, there is an opportunity to increase the efficiency of using these elements by increasing the quantities of them within the limits of the flexibility of each production element.
