Extension Needs for Date Palms Farmers in some Villages at Kafr El- Sheikh Governorate

Abstract

The research mainly targeted the extension needs of farmers searching for specific topics in this research through a questionnaire form by personal interview for a sample of 300 respondents who were chosen in a simple random way.
Some statistical methods such as percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and simple correlation coefficient were used in addition to the frequency distribution tables to explain and interpret the results. The most important results of the research were the following:
- (73.7%) of the respondents had the level of knowledge need in technical recommendations for date cultivation, medium and low, while (89.3%) of them the level of executive need in technical recommendations for cultivation of dates was medium and low.
- There is an inverse significant correlation at the level between the size of the agricultural land holding, the experience in planting date palms, the number of date palm trees, the net yield of acres, exposure to agricultural information sources, the executive level, the number of years of education, and the trend towards renewal in date palm cultivation. And between the knowledge needs of the respondents with the technical recommendations for the cultivation of date palms as a dependent variable.
- The existence of an inverse significant correlation between: the size of the farmland holding, the experience in planting date palms, the number of date palm trees, the net yield per acres exposure to agricultural information sources, the level of knowledge, the official social participation, and the trend towards renewal in date palm cultivation. And he showed the executive need of the respondents with the technical recommendations for date palm cultivation as a dependent variable.
