The Problems that Facing Farmers in the of Irrigation Water Rationalization Field in Kafr El Sheikh Governorate

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the problems facing farmers who were researched in the field of irrigation water rationing in kafr el sheikh governorate, and the riyadh district was randomly selected from among the districts of kafr el eheikh governorate, as well as choosing the village of Abu Raya in the same way. The research sample reached 186 respondents, and data were collected on Questionnaire by personal interview. The most important results were as follows: The problems faced by the respondents in the field of irrigation water rationing could be arranged in descending order according to the degree of their existence. The problems related to the environmental aspects were in the first order, followed by the problems related to the provision of irrigation water (water security), then the problems related to the nature of agricultural soil. Then problems related to the cognitive aspects (water awareness), followed by problems related to the economic aspects. The results also pointed to the traditional sources of information from which the respondents derive their information on rationalizing the use of irrigation water. The most important proposals of the farmers researched to overcome the problems that confront them are to reduce the area of the reins served by the developed waterer, and the periodic and continuous maintenance to treat technical defects in development, and to replace the old irrigation machines that the farmers have and use it in other projects, and to provide machines that help in leveling the soil, and providing pesticides. To get rid of weeds that consume large amounts of water, and to organize irrigation shifts.
