Farmers Attitudes Associated with the National Project of Developing Irrigation Systems in the Villages of Kom El –Berka and Monhshat Amer in Kafr El –Dawar District, El Behira Governorate

Abstract

 
This research was mainly aimed at identifying the trends of the surveyed farmers towards the national project for the development of the field irrigation systems in the villages of MANSHAT AMER and KOUM EL BERKA in KAFR EL DAWAR in Beheira Governorate. This main objective can be achieved through the following sub-objectives:
1-Identifying some characteristics of the surveyed farmers.
2- Determining the trends of the surveyed farmers towards the national project for the development of field irrigation systems.
3- Studying the correlation between the characteristics of the surveyed farmers and the characteristics of the advanced Musqah as independent variables and their attitudes towards the national project for the development of field irrigation systems.
The necessary data was obtained to achieve the aims of the study by using the interview questionnaire for the samples that is 300 surveyed and they were selected randomly in the villages of MANSHAT AMER and KOUM EL BERKA in KAFR EL DAWAR in Beheira Governorate and the study resulted to the following :-
1- Characteristics of the surveyed farmers indicate that more than 75% of the surveyed farmers are between the ages of 47-59 years and more than 50% are not graduated and 90% of the surveyed farmers whose experience years in the agricultural work about 28 years and the two-third of the surveyed get their knowledge about using of irrigation water from 6 sources or more and more than two-third of the surveyed have the attitude to agricultural guidelines and agricultural work and 77% of the surveyed has tenure ownership less than 68 kirates and the majority of the surveyed are of the middle and high categories participating in the family work in the agricultural work.
2- The majority of farmers are marked by positive attitudes was 27% and the neutral 13%, while the percentage of surveyed farmers with negative attitudes was 60% of the total number of surveyed farmers in the study levels.
3- There is positive correlation between the independent variables: the number of agricultural information sources in the rationalization of irrigation water use, the number of farmers on developed Al-Musqah, the length of developed Al-Musqah and the trend of surveyed farmers towards the national project for the development of field irrigation systems as a dependent variable.
