Analytical Study for the Adoption of Potato Growers of Recommendations for Rationalizing the Use of Irrigation Water Buhaira Governorate Al Bustan Region

Abstract

This research aims to identify the level of potato farmers' adoption of recommendations for the rationalization of irrigation water use in the Al Bustan area of ​​Buhaira Governorate, through the following set of objectives, to determine their level of knowledge of these recommendations, to identify their trends towards rationalizing the use of irrigation water, and to identify the link between the degree of adoption by farmers Potatoes for these recommendations and some studied independent variants.
This study is based on a descriptive approach to the extent to which potato farmers in the Al Bustan area have adopted the recommendations of rationalizing the use of irrigation water. 168 farmers representing all potato growers in this region were gathered in the summer season in the village of Imam Muhammad Rifat, which is considered one of the promising potato export villages in the Al Bustan region in Egypt. . Data were collected through a personal interview using questionnaire forms prepared for this purpose, and the results were presented in the form of frequency distribution tables and percentages, and the data were analyzed using the simple correlation coefficient of Pearson, and the KI square using SPSS.
The most important results are as follows:
It was found that nearly half of the respondents represented an average level of adoption to rationalize the use of irrigation water by (48.8%), and more than half of them had neutral tendencies towards rationalizing the use of irrigation water by (52.4%), while their level of knowledge of rationalization recommendations was high. Where they swallowed about (51.8%), and this may be attributed to the fact that these farmers have great experience in growing potatoes and own large areas of cultivation, but they face some obstacles that prevent the adoption of some of these recommendations, such as the lack of good mechanization services in the region, as well. The results showed the great role that the private sector plays, represented by the shops that sell agricultural inputs, in transferring agricultural knowledge.
The results also showed the existence of a positive significant correlation between the degree of farmers' adoption of recommendations for rationalizing the use of irrigation water and some independent variables, which are: age, number of years of experience in planting potato crops, and the cultivated area of ​​potato crop. The research presented a set of recommendations that can be taken into consideration for workers. In the search area.
