Empowerment of the Rural Women Breadwinners for the Millennium and Its Relationship to Quality of Life A Field Study in One of the Villages in the Gharbiah Governorate

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the level of social, political, economical, professional and psychological empowerment of the rural women breadwinners, and the relationship between the independent variables studied and between the degrees of social, political, economical, professional and psychological empowerment of rural women breadwinners, And the relationship between the degree of quality of life and between the degrees of social, political, economical, professional and psychological empowerment of the rural women breadwinners, as well as the degree of the independent variables studied in explaining the variation in the degrees of social, political, economical, professional and psychological empowerment of the rural women breadwinners.
Based on the number of families, it was selected Gharbiah governorate, Tanta district, and Shuni village. The research sample was amounted to 203 of rural women breadwinners. Appropriate statistical analysis methods were used to analysis of the data.
The most important results were summarized as follows:
- The level of social, political and economical empowerment of the rural respondents was low, while the level of professional and psychological empowerment was moderate.
- The determinants of the degrees of social empowerment of the rural women breadwinners are: the age of the respondent, the average age of the respondent’s sons, the number of years of education of the respondent, the monthly income of the respondent’s family, and the degree of community affiliation. While the determinants of the degrees of political empowerment of the rural women breadwinners are: the number of years of education of the respondent's husband, the average number of years of education of the respondent's children, the number of dependent family members, the monthly income of the respondent's family, and the degree and community affiliation.While the determinants of the degrees of economical empowerment of the rural women breadwinners are: the age of the respondent, the number of years of education of the respondent, the number of years of family support, and cultural openness.As for the determinants of the degrees of professional empowerment of the rural women breadwinners are, the number of years of education of the respondent, the monthly income of the respondent's family, and the degree of ambition. Finally, the determinants of the degrees of psychological empowerment of the rural women breadwinners are: the number of years of education of the respondent, cultural openness, and the degree of ambition. It is recommended that the research be based on its findings: Work to improve the educational, cultural, political and economic conditions of rural women who are breadwinners through various media.
